Area of operation

We, the MAP Jesuits are working in two states; Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
The Jesuits then entered Madhya Pradesh from the Eastern districts of Raigarh and Surguja in 1905. The two districts were full of tribals who were left to themselves under the local kings of Jashpur and Surguja. After the intervention of Jesuits in terms of education, socio-religious and socio-economic awareness, the tribals realised that they had some people to accompany them towards development. Slowly the Jesuits moved westward doing the same kind of work for the tribals. Even today Jesuits are moving to places where no development initiatives have been taken for the tribals and dalits.
