We are Jesuits working in Madhya Pradesh Jesuit Province.There are 218 Jesuits in the province, out of whom there are 74 Jesuits in the formation preparing themselves for future. The Jesuits in formation are sent for professional and technical training besides the religious training to prepare them for the work of Province. The others are actively working for people through various centres in the Province.

September 27, 1540. At the Palazzo San Marco in Rome, Pope Paul III signed the Bull Regimini militantis ecclesiae. The Society of Jesus was established as a religious order of the Catholic Church. However, the foundations of the Society go back in time to early days of St. Ignatius of Loyola.

It all goes back to the student days of Ignatius and his friends at the University of Paris. The companionship and ministries that they shared as friends in the Lord, laid firm foundations for what has now evolved as the Society of Jesus.

In the course of its 460-year old history, the Society of Jesus has produced Jesuits that have dreamt of a magis that only fuelled their quest for the Greater. Jesuits have dared to cross boundaries in an attempt to serve God and people, prince and pauper, in various capacities. They have been scientists, theologians, poets, philosophers, explorers, missionaries, pastors, preachers, educationists, psychotherapists, sociologists, historians, writers, painters, technicians, administrators… the list goes on. That also includes a host of Saints and Blesseds.

Today, there are over 19,000 Jesuits spread across 112 countries. While history speaks eloquently of the Friends in the Lord, Jesuits no longer remain content with the established. They are men on a mission, ready to challenge convention and strive and work in whatever field possible that is conducive to the service of faith and justice. The only established motive that has ever remained constant is love for Christ. This love for Christ is the armour that every Jesuit dons, as he prepares to take on the world. What motivates him forward are just three questions he asks himself.
