Jesuit Presence in Jashpur

Ginabahar

 

Fr. Cyril Van Den Driessche, SJ, pitched his tent under a ‘Bar’(bayan) tree during the rainy season of 1912 and stayed on till the year 1914. He built a small hut in 1915 and entered in the newly built bungalow on 14 July 1917.

 

Gholeng

 

 

Fr. August Bossaers, SJ, came from Majhatoli (Jharkhand) to Gholeng to say a Holy Mass for the First Time in the newly built chapel at Gholeng on 15th June 1917. He had his residence there from Jan 1918. 

 

Ambakona

 

 

 

Albert Demonceau, SJ, built the bungalow of Ambakona in 1919 while he stayed at Noadih (Jharkhand). In 1923 he came to stay there as the founder parish priest.

 

Tapkara

 

Fr. Paul Feron, SJ , the first Parish Priest , in spite of the Political agent’s objection, erected Tapkara Parish in 1923.
